Art Cart: Community Painting Day with Scarbrite Collective

Introducing Scarborough's first bike-powered Art Cart! Produced by Scarbrite Collective, the Art Cart was launched at their "Community Painting Day” event on July 12, 2023.  The “Community Painting Day” was the first of many workshops in their “Makers in Motion” series focused on sustainable art-making in Scarborough’s Greenway Network. The Art Cart will be used to deliver sustainable arts programming in the Greenway cycling network this summer! Scarborough Arts is happy to partner with Scarbrite Collective for this impactful series

Each workshop, hosted by Scarbrite Collective, will invite participants to share their thoughts and ideas about climate change impacts on a local scale. The “Community Painting Day” consisted of various activities, including a watercolor painting station from the Scarborough Arts team where we asked participants to paint their answer to the call of “What Scarborough Means to You”! From rainbows to community bridges to local  restaurants, we learned how you see our community. Scarborough Arts is excited for the future “Makers in Motion” workshops this summer and to be working with the Scarbrite Collective on the Scarbrite’s Art Cart!

Thank you to Scarbrite Collective for this initiative and for hosting us for this incredible painting day!
