The East H.E.A.R.T (Health, Education, Art, Resilience, Together) program is thrilled to announce Scarborough On Paper, a by and for youth program for youth aged 18 to 29 identifying as 2SLGBTQ+ (including questioning individuals) from Scarborough.

Embark on a transformative journey with the EAST H.E.A.R.T. cohort in 2024, where every aspect is designed to enrich your experience. In this program you will be immersed in the captivating world of papercraft, exploring artist development, insightful talks, studio visits, and the art of letter writing. Delve into meaningful discussions and activities aimed at enhancing your overall well-being and sexual health within a safe and supportive environment.

Beyond artistic growth, this program facilitates community building. Join us on this extraordinary journey where creativity, well-being, and community converge for an unforgettable experience. 🌈✨

The 2024 EAST H.E.A.R.T. cohort, "Scarborough On Paper" program will run from Saturday February 3rd 2024 to June 4 2024. This is a hybrid program where it will be a blend of online Saturdays and in-person hangouts on Tuesdays over five months.

Tuesdays from 5 to 7pm

Saturdays from 12 to 2pm

Additionally, as a part of this program; you will receive training and workshops twice per week led by professional artists focused on developing your art skills, an art kit containing all required materials for the program, Scarborough Arts swag, networking opportunities with professional artists from around Toronto, a community of peers with similar lived experiences, and training to strengthen understanding and resilience around mental health, sexual health, and general well-being! 😊

About the workshop series: Navigating Grief in BIPOC Solidarity covers a variety of manifestations of grief, including the losses associated with death, oppression, activism, trauma, colonialism, climate catastrophe, (dis)ability, etc. The objective of this course is to hold space for BIPOC participants of all genders and abilities to use writing as a tool to work through grief in solidarity with others who also navigate the harms of white supremacy, colonialism, xenophobia, etc. By the end of the course, participants will learn some ways to navigate grief, as well as how writing can support that process in solidarity with a community of BIPOC folx.

Through confidence-building assignments, attendees will gain knowledge for digital creative expression. *Please note this workshop series is only open for registration anyone (all ages) that identify as Indigenous (First Nation, Inuit, and/or Métis).*

Dates: Wednesdays between March 20th - April 24th, 2024 

Times: 6-8PM 

Location: Toronto Public Library, Albert Campbell Branch, 496 Birchmount Rd. 

Participants will be provided with program materials & access to computers and relevant softwares.

Eva Francis-Work, originally from Saskatchewan and now based in Toronto, is a fine artist specializing in digital media and printmaking. Integrating her Psychology and Fine Arts education, she passionately explores self-expression and femininity with humor.
