George Yonemori

I went from failing TDSB music classes to being selected for international music fellowships. I released my first EP in 2021.

I wrote all the lyrics, melodies, and instrumental parts. The experimental spoken word/alt-metal hybrid song "anisocoria" is downright unbearable. I hate the spoken word, stream-of-consciousness lyrics, but they accurately reflect my headspace at the time.

Finishing high school during the pandemic sucked. I wasn't confident in my authenticity experiment, so I hid behind another singer and loud guitars. Listening to it now hurts, but that pain comes from the growth I've made and the confidence I've gained.

I revisited the experiment this year, now that I've graduated from university amid a terrible job market, with a more confident and vulnerable acoustic song. I'm a work-in-progress, already envisioning what another attempt at this stream-of-consciousness indie rock hybrid style will look like in another four years. I'll call it "ANISOCORIA 2.0."
