Our Featured Artist: Mariana Akemy

Mariana Akemy is a Scarborough-based ceramic artist originally from Brazil, and the maker behind Art by Akemy.

Her work lives somewhere between memories of growing up in the suburbs of São Paulo, a song stuck in her head, a morning cup of coffee, and the strange, wonderful worlds of anime.

For more than a decade, Mariana worked in corporate marketing. But clay brought her back to curiosity, intuition, and the reminder that life is more than paying bills and clearing a to-do list. We are also here to be surprised.
