The Community Mapping Project: Workshop #1

If your friends are visiting from far for the first time, where would you bring them for their first meal in Scarborough? How would you describe your connection with your neighbourhood?

Join us for the first workshop in The Community Mapping Project, a three-part series exploring the places, routes, and everyday experiences that make up our community. Contribute your ideas to inform the community map and highlight local businesses, restaurants, and cultural spaces along Sheppard Avenue East from Markham Road to Midland Avenue.

In this first session, we’ll get creative with mapping! Starting with our homes in Scarborough, participants can create a personal map inspired by the places they visit and the things they notice along the way: from favourite spots and familiar routes to trees, birds, green spaces, and other neighbourhood discoveries that you can show to your visiting friends.

Draw, cut, paste, imagine, and have fun creating your own map. You can map your everyday routine, dream up an adventure, or even imagine getting around by spaceship or flying car! 🚀 No map-making experience is needed and all materials are provided.

Come for a little while, make something, and explore your neighbourhood by visualizing it in a new way.

FREE drop-in session. All are welcome!
