Introducing Healthy Arts for Seniors 2025, Facilitated by Mariam Magsi

We are excited to announce the launch of the 2025 Healthy Arts for Seniors program, an in-person series designed to bring Scarborough’s senior communities together through shared creativity, learning, and exploration.

This year’s program, from September 18th to November 5th, 2025, will provide participants with the opportunity to visit arts and culture spaces in Scarborough/Toronto with facilitated workshops and artist talks. Led by Mariam Magsi, we aim to provide vibrant, engaging, and accessible programming for all of Scarborough's residents! Register here.

2. Monday October 6, 2025 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Excursion to Clark Centre for the Arts | Clark Centre for the Arts

3. October 29, 2025 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM: "FUTURES" by Rajni Perera and "Threads of Refuge" curated by Thy Phu & Saaz Taher, portraits by Anthony Gebrehiwot | Doris McCarthy Gallery (UTSC)

4. November 5, 2025 at 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM: Guided Tour of Aga Khan Museum | Aga Khan Museum 

About the Facilitator: Mariam Magsi

Born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan and currently based in Toronto, Canada, Mariam Magsi is a Baloch-Punjabi multidisciplinary artist, writer and educator working in Photography, Performance Art, Poetry, Installation and other arts. Mariam has led the Healthy Arts for Seniors program at Scarborough Arts for the last four years cultivating safe, empowering, inclusive and creatively charged spaces + opportunities for BIPOC seniors from marginalized backgrounds in the Scarborough and Markham regions. Mariam holds a BFA in Studio Art & English Literature from UTSC, an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art, Media & Design from OCAD University. Mariam's works have been featured on Vice Canada, Toronto Star, British Journal of Photography, Black Flash Magazine, CNN, Scene Arabia, She Does The City, Blog TO, Time Out New York, and she has exhibited at renowned galleries and festivals, such as: Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto), Pen & Brush Foundation (NYC), Pride Photo Award (Amsterdam), Louvre (Paris), SCOPE Miami and more.
