Scarborough Arts is Coming to Lots of Play
We're inviting Golden Mile residents and the wider Scarborough community to spend an afternoon making art, meeting neighbours, and celebrating the creativity that brings our community together.
Scarborough Arts is joining Lots of Play, hosted by Choice Properties in the Golden Mile. Lots of Play is a free summer event series that transforms everyday parking lots into vibrant community spaces filled with creativity, connection, and play. Every weekend in July, the event moves to a new GTA community, including Bradford, Toronto, and Scarborough, running Friday to Sunday at each stop.
Join us on Sunday, July 19th, 2026 for two free drop-in art activations for children, youth, adults, seniors, and every neighbour in between. Whether you're creating alongside family, friends, or someone you've just met, these hands-on activities are designed to spark conversation, connection, and creativity.
Throughout the afternoon, participants can explore two artist-led experiences:
Printmaking in the Parking Lot
Led by Moonpools artists Catherine Moeller and Roxanne Ignatius, this hands-on printmaking workshop invites participants to learn the fundamentals of printmaking while creating a self-portrait or portrait of a friend. Finished prints can be taken home or added to a collaborative community banner that will grow throughout the afternoon.
Neighbourhood Heroes
Created by artist Sharon Joy Tung, Neighbourhood Heroes is a participatory trading card activity that celebrates the people, places, and stories that make our neighbourhood unique. Participants will create their own illustrated trading cards, take one home, and leave one behind for others to discover, building a growing collection of community stories through art and play.
