Destination Scarborough Launches Culture & Cuisine Activation Program with Community Convening
Toronto, ON — On July 20, 2026, Destination Scarborough, a collaboration between Scarborough Arts and Eat More Scarborough, welcomed more than 50 community leaders, artists, Business Improvement Areas (BIAs), Chambers of Commerce, restaurants, and not-for-profit organizations to the inaugural Culture & Cuisine Activation Program (CCAP) Convening, marking the launch of a new funding opportunity designed to bring Scarborough’s neighbourhoods to life through food, arts, and culture.
The convening brought together community members and changemakers from across Scarborough to explore how food, arts, and culture can work together to strengthen neighbourhoods, celebrate the city’s diverse culinary identity, and create memorable experiences that support local businesses.
Participants engaged in an interactive panel discussion, networking opportunities, and conversations focused on building partnerships and developing creative community activations. The event concluded with the official launch of the Culture & Cuisine Activation Program (CCAP), a pilot initiative providing partnership funds of up to $10,000 for BIAs, Chambers of Commerce, and not-for-profit organizations to develop arts and cultural activations that showcase Scarborough’s local restaurants and culinary communities.
Destination Scarborough would like to thank the City of Toronto for their support in investing in this pilot initiative that celebrates the character, creativity, and diversity within Scarborough’s local economic and culinary scene.
